What is the cost for membership?
We offer three different types of membership: Regular, Management and Associate.
- Regular: Starts at a base fee of $250; for every unit that you manage/own in San Francisco, add $4.65. So, if you have a single-family dwelling, your membership cost would be $254.65 ($250 + $4.65). If you own a flat, your membership cost would be $259.30 ($250 + $9.30), and so on.
- Management: Base fee is $400; for every unit that is managed, addd $$2.65.
- Associate: Associate Membership is a networking tool for companies and carries a flat fee of $400.
Regular Membership
If you are an owner, manager, trustee, property management company you can become a member of the San Francisco Apartment Association. Not only do you become a member of the SFAA but included is membership in the statewide organization - The California Apartment Association (www.CAAnet.org).

Through our monthly magazine, the SFAA keep members updated about proposed laws that could diminish the value of your business. - San Francisco Apartment Association Residential Tenancy Agreement (SFAA)
This newly updated lease is the best form on the market. With 13 pages of lease, house rules and all required lead and mold notices you’ll be well protected. Available in-house, and online for members for a small additional fee. - Advice
from Experts
SFAA brings you timely advice from experts on key issues like rent control, insurance planning, earthquake preparedness and pass-throughs on the cost of capital improvements and bonds. - Tenant
Screening/Credit Reports
The best way to pre-screen a tenant is through their credit report. Let us run your credit reports, eviction searches, bounced check searches and more. - Member Discounts
Through our Associate Members, we offer member discounts on insurance coverage (including workers compensation and health care), repairs, and many other services. These discounts could save you hundreds of dollars. - Legislative Activity
We keep you informed about local and state legislation. And we are working for you as your voice and landlord lobbyists. - SFAA PAC and Legal Fund
SFAA Political Action Committee screens local issues and candidates to help property owners make informed decisions and advance their interests. The Legal Fund is used to insure the protection of private property rights through timely court action.
Cost
Regular Members (You manage your own property)
$250 / year plus
$4.65 for each unit.
For example, a four-unit building
owner would pay $268.60, i.e., $250 for base dues and $18.60 for the
four units.
Property Management Company (You manage property
for other people)
$400 / year plus
$2.65 for each unit.
For example, a six-unit building manager would pay $415.90, i.e., $400 for base dues and $15.90 for the six units.

Associate Membership
